Career Development in Hartwig Care

I began my Hartwig journey in spring 2011 as a care worker, transitioning from a different career path after years of volunteering—organising soup kitchens, street cafés for the homeless, and conservation projects in London. Motivated by a desire to make a direct impact, I embraced the role and quickly adapted, gaining valuable experience with CHC and palliative clients, which deepened my understanding of complex conditions like Huntington’s Disease and Dementia. After 18 months, I became a field supervisor, followed shortly by a promotion to care manager, initially focusing on Direct Payments and later expanding into private and social services-funded care. I eventually led the Reablement section during the peak of COVID, coordinating with social workers and medical professionals in a high-pressure environment that sharpened our team’s resilience and responsiveness. Later, I took on the role of CHC manager, handling complex, fast-tracked cases and applying my frontline experience in a strategic capacity. Throughout, I’ve worked across various service types, contracts, and locations, proud to be part of a team that has made a meaningful difference to thousands of clients across the care spectrum.

Robert Learner, Care and CCG Manager, Camden Branch

I began my career with Hartwig Care in 2019 as a Carer. Just two months into the role, a position for Care Coordinator became available, and I was encouraged to apply. I was successful, and stepping into the coordinator role allowed me to build strong relationships with both staff and colleagues, I quickly became a favourite among the team. In 2024, I was promoted to Deputy Manager, which was a proud moment for me. A few months later, I was honoured to be asked to consider the position of Registered Manager. Each step in my journey has been supported by Hartwig Care’s commitment to staff development and growth. What I enjoy most about my roles is the opportunity to support others, help shape a positive work environment, and make a real difference in the lives of both staff and clients. Hartwig Care has provided me with the training, encouragement, and opportunities to progress, and I’m grateful to be part of such a supportive team.

Antoniette Brissett, Registered Manager, Enfield Branch

I have started with Hartwig as a care worker. I had good experience from before working in a care home and then private client with challenging autism and LD. After six months during which I learned the intricacies of domiciliary care service, I was offered a position of Field Care Supervisor in July 2023. Soon after in Jan 2024 the training team suggested I take part in NVQ Diploma Level 3 in Adult Care which I’m about to complete this month. I enjoy my role as a Supervisor as it is not strictly office-based position and I can still see my clients. I can also help them on a different level than I could as carer, with contacting services they need, adjusting their service to their needs and be a liaison between them and other healthcare professionals.

Patryk Lipski, Field Care Supervisor, Camden Branch

When I first joined Hartwig Care, I was appointed as a Care Assistant for a private client. After gaining valuable professional experience in this role, I was given the opportunity to work with City of London clients. I truly enjoyed providing high-quality care and working closely with both clients and the team. Within two months, I was offered the position of OOH Monitor, where I learned a great deal from the wonderful staff members who supported me. Just three months later, I was fortunate to progress again, this time to OOH Care Coordinator, thanks to the trust and encouragement from the higher management team. It has now been more than a year, and I feel grateful for the many opportunities Hartwig Care has given me. Currently, I am working as a Care Coordinator while also supporting clients in the field across three areas: Private, City of London, and Camden. I am passionate about my role, and I truly enjoy being able to provide the best possible service to our clients while continuing to grow professionally.

Ayush Giri, OOH Care Coordinator, Camden Branch

Before joining Hartwig Care, I had over three years of experience as a Care Worker and Team Leader. I’ve always taken pride in doing my job with love and in line with company policies. I tried to carry out my responsibilities with care and integrity, and I believe that consistency and commitment helped me grow into the Recruitment Officer role — an opportunity I’m genuinely grateful for. My connection to care work, especially with elderly people runs deep — my grandmother was a care worker back home, and when I was younger, I used to spend long afternoons visiting her clients with her. That time created a strong bond between us and gave me a deep appreciation for elderly people. They’re often overlooked, but I find them fascinating — full of wisdom and incredible stories to share. I believe we should reciprocate in life: they once cared for us, and now it’s our turn to support them. Since stepping into recruitment, I’ve continued to develop my interpersonal and organizational skills. I like to believe I always see the good in people, and I use that alongside the tools I’ve been given, the continuous team support and wisdom and my own proactivity to bring strong, compassionate care workers into the company. I also work to maintain good relationships with those who are already part of our team and be as supportive as possible.

Mariana Monteiro, Recruitment Officer, Bexley Branch

My career in health and social care began in 2018 with Hartwig Care as a Care Worker, where I gained hands-on experience supporting individuals with diverse needs. This role helped me develop strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills, delivering person-centred care in homes and the community. In 2019, I was promoted to Recruitment Officer, responsible for sourcing and onboarding care staff. I learned to identify the qualities of exceptional carers and build a compassionate workforce. By 2021, I became a Field Care Supervisor, overseeing care quality, compliance, and staff development through risk assessments, spot checks, and supervisions. I worked closely with service users and families to ensure continuity and satisfaction. In 2023, I progressed to Care Coordinator, managing rotas, referrals, and communication between staff and service users. This role sharpened my leadership and operational planning skills. In 2025, I proudly became Registered Manager, overseeing service operations, ensuring CQC compliance, and fostering a positive workplace culture. My journey from frontline care to management has given me a deep, holistic understanding of the care process, allowing me to lead with empathy, professionalism, and a passion for making a difference.
