Supporting Mental Wellbeing at Hartwig Care

29 April 2025

At Hartwig Care, we understand how important mental wellbeing is for our entire team. Whether you work as a care professional or in our offices, mental health support is essential for navigating personal and work-related challenges. That’s why we’ve made Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) a priority. They are a vital resource for all employees.

What Do Mental Health First Aiders Do?

Our MHFAs are the first point of contact for staff who need support. They can:

  • Offer a listening ear and guidance during difficult times.
  • Connect colleagues with external resources such as charities or specialist organisations.
  • Support staff after the loss of a service user through welfare checks and ongoing care.

Additional Support: Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Alongside MHFA support, we provide access to the Employee Assistance Programme. This confidential service offers advice and counselling from licensed therapists when professional help is needed.

How Our MHFAs Make a Difference?

We recognise that everyone faces mental health challenges at some point in their lives. As a company, it’s our responsibility to ensure that our employees have the resources they need to manage these challenges effectively. Our MHFAs are trained to:

  • Create and distribute informative resources to guide anyone in need of support.
  • Recognise the early signs of mental health issues and intervene appropriately.
  • Hold space for active listening sessions, offering a compassionate ear without judgment.
  • Provide guidance on accessing professional support when necessary.
  • Create a supportive environment by conducting regular welfare checks and fostering a culture of care.

Spotlight on Marlon: A Dedication to Care and Well-being

Marlon, one of our 18 dedicated MHFAs, exemplifies the commitment we strive for at Hartwig Care. As a Care Coordinator, Marlon manages everything from organising care visits and conducting client risk assessments to ensuring our clients receive the best possible care. He also serves as a key contact for our care workers, offering support when they face the emotional toll of witnessing a client’s passing or dealing with other challenging situations.

Marlon and his fellow MHFAs are more than just a resource—they are a source of positivity, good vibes, and unwavering support for our team. Their dedication to providing confidential and emotional support underscores our holistic approach to wellbeing at Hartwig Care.

We believe in nurturing a workplace where every employee feels valued and supported. Through the work of our MHFAs, we continue to build a compassionate and resilient team, ready to face life’s challenges together.
