That’s why we’ve made Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) a priority. They are a vital resource for all employees.
What Do Mental Health First Aiders Do?
Our MHFAs are the first point of contact for staff who need support. They can:
- Offer a listening ear and guidance during difficult times.
- Connect colleagues with external resources such as charities or specialist organisations.
- Support staff after the loss of a service user through welfare checks and ongoing care.

Marlon, one of our 18 dedicated MHFAs, exemplifies the commitment we strive for at Hartwig Care. As a Care Coordinator, Marlon manages everything from organising care visits and conducting client risk assessments to ensuring our clients receive the best possible care. He also serves as a key contact for our care workers, offering support when they face the emotional toll of witnessing a client’s passing or dealing with other challenging situations.
