At Hartwig Care, we understand the importance of mental wellbeing for our entire team. Whether it’s our dedicated care staff or those working behind the scenes in our offices, mental health support is crucial in navigating both personal and work-related challenges. That’s why we’ve made it a priority to have Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) available as a vital resource for all our employees.
What Do Mental Health First Aiders Do?
Our MHFAs serve as the first point of contact for staff members in need of support. They are equipped to offer guidance, whether it’s through a simple conversation, helping someone through a difficult time, or connecting them with external resources like relevant companies or charities. They also play a key role in supporting colleagues who have experienced the loss of a service user, ensuring that those affected receive the care and attention they need through welfare checks and ongoing support.
In addition to the direct support from our MHFAs, we also provide access to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). This program offers an additional confidential channel for advice and counseling, facilitated by licensed therapists, for those times when professional mental health support is needed.
How Our MHFAs Make a Difference?
We recognise that everyone faces mental health challenges at some point in their lives. As a company, it’s our responsibility to ensure that our employees have the resources they need to manage these challenges effectively. Our MHFAs are trained to:
– Create and distribute informative resources to guide anyone in need of support.
– Recognise the early signs of mental health issues and intervene appropriately.
– Hold space for active listening sessions, offering a compassionate ear without judgment.
– Provide guidance on accessing professional support when necessary.
– Create a supportive environment by conducting regular welfare checks and fostering a culture of care.
